CNNIC (The Chinese Internet Network Information Center) recently published a report (in Chinese) which includes lots of great statistics about social network usage statistics in China. Our friends over at Web2Asia have translated the statistics from this report over on their blog.
One of the key statistics of interest, is which are the most used social networks in China. The chart to the right shows that of the 3007 people interviewed for the survey, half of them had accounts with QQ School Friends (QQ also runs the most popular instant messaging software in China), while RenRen (formerly Xiaonei) and Sina Space are almost neck-and-neck for 2nd and 3rd most popular respectively.
Popular social networks in the West such as Facebook and MySpace don't get a mention in the report and are likely grouped together in the Other (其他) category, which accounts for 39.9% of interviewees.
